Homeward bound

A rare view outside

After a few days of stable recovery the team here thinks Wes is ready to go home tomorrow.

He had a minor fever after his procedures Wednesday which put him on antibiotics, but it quickly broke and hasn’t returned. As his port healed he had to remain on a drip to ensure he was getting enough fluids, but this morning they removed the lines and he’s been untethered ever since – and happily getting all the fluids he needs the old fashioned way.

We have a lot of work ahead to make sure he stays healthy while we kill every last leukemia cell in his little body, but it’ll be much more comfortable to do it from home.

After a week in a hospital room with a constant stream of people coming by no less than every two hours, around the clock, regaining our privacy is something to look forward to, along with homemade food, friends and family, fresh air, freedom of movement, and the outdoors.
