1000 Days
This warrior goober is 1000 days old today. In those 1000 days #wesleymorrishoward has been through so much. From pulling bar shifts with Mom, to moving cross country in a camper with two cats and a dog, and to right now: the fight of his life.
Of those 1000 days, the last 113 have been more than most people would ever have to deal with in their entire lives. In the last 113 days Wesley has experienced:
43+ blood draws
33 injections
3 hospital stays
2000+miles driven to and from appointments
1 surgery
2 bone marrow draws
11 sedations/general anesthesia
10 spinal taps
8 types of chemo
2 Anaphylactic reactions
and so much more.
What remains unchanged is this goofy smile, golden heart, and love of life.
Tomorrow we check in for his first admission for Interim Maintenance (the name is very much a misnomer for kids like Wes who are high risk. Lower risk kids get a much needed break during this time with only a few visits to the day clinic). Tonight, I find myself cuddled up in bed with my perfect baby. I hope he never stops climbing up into bed with me. I tell him every twelve seconds how much he means to me, and I hope one day he realizes just how far I would go for him.
